THE COMMUNITY
The World Community of Geological Surveys (WCOGS) is open to senior executives and managers of National and Regional Geological Survey Organizations (GSOs), as well as regional geological associations, from all around the world.
Participation is voluntary and free. Signature and filing of a Statement of Intent with the WCOGS Secretariat and participation in WCOGS activities is all that is required to join.
Administrative support to WCOGS is provided by a rotating Secretariat, hosted on a volunteer basis by a GSO for a two-year period. For 2023-24, the WCOGS Secretariat is being hosted by the EuroGeoSurveys.
An informal Activities Committee composed of volunteers from the broader WCOGS community discusses and develops ideas for activities and events, promotes these ideas to members, and solicits organizations to lead the activities. The Activities Committee is guided by principles of equality, inclusiveness and transparency.
